The World Congress Plenary convenes once every four years; usually in Jerusalem. However due to the radicalization of Anti-Semitism in Europe – the Plenary was held this year in Budapest.
The Plenary held discussions on the rise in Anti-Semitism in East Europe and in Hungary, in view of the Anti-Semitic activities of the extreme-right Jobbik party, the third largest political party in Hungary. WJC President Ron Lauder called upon the Hungarian Government to do everything possible to combat the wave of hatred towards Jews and to take a stronger stand against Anti=-Semitism and hate crimes.
