WIZO Israel Raises Half a Million Shekels in Yearly Fundraising Event.


At the event, it was announced that Haim Cohen, CEO of Dun & Bradstreet Israel, would take up the position of WIZO Israel Appeal Chairperson,

WIZO Israel’s yearly fundraising event was a huge success, raising half a million shekels for women and children at risk, as well as for hundreds of other WIZO education and welfare projects. 

The Midsummer Night’s Dream event was held at the Israel Museum in Tel Aviv, where in the light of a full moon, Tel Aviv’s magnificent view could be beheld from a distance. Guests enjoyed a festive and high-quality meal under the supervision of celebrity chef Moshe Segev, who generously volunteered his services. Actress Gila Giat also volunteered to host in the evening, which she did with unparalleled charm and grace.

The event was attended by over 300 people, including senior economic and industry leaders, who have been generous supporters of WIZO for many years. The Raanana Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the esteemed David Sebba, provided musical entertainment. The orchestra was joined by Kobi Aflalo, who delighted the audience with his familiar songs.

The event was attended by Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai, as well as WIZO Israel Chairperson Gila Oshrat, World WIZO President Tova Ben-Dov, World WIZO Chairperson Professor Rivka Lazovsky and many other members of the Executive.

WIZO Israel Chairperson Gila Oshrat officially announced the appointments of Haim Cohen, the CEO of Dun & Bradstreet, to the position WIZO Israel Appeal Chairman and attorney Dafna Fisher to the position of New Friends of WIZO Israel Head. Haim Cohen, who formerly served as CEO of Clal Credit Insurance and was a founder and former vice president of Citibank Israel, will lead WIZO’s fundraising initiatives among the business community and in the media.

Throughout her speech, Gila Oshrat touched on WIZO’s many yearly activities and thanked participants for their generosity: “The social safety net that WIZO provides to the weaker members of our society is a vital to the creation of a more equal society. Thanks to your support, we in WIZO are succeeding in creating a light of hope for the future. Your loyalty is the wind beneath our wings.”

Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai thanked WIZO for work in advancing education and welfare in his city. “WIZO is a central element of the basic social services system and is crucial for the welfare of all her dependents. WIZO enables us to expand our ability to address education and welfare, and for this WIZO will be blessed.”

Gila Oshrat and Arela Meiri, WIZO Fundraising Chairperson, bid outgoing WIZO Israel Appeal Chairmain Attorney Gidon Fisher farewell and thanked him for his three years of service.  “In order to achieve our goals, you worked tirelessly and energetically to open even door to WIZO.“

Haim Cohen, incoming WIZO Israel Appeal Chairperson, spoke directly to donors, “Creating a equal opportunities for all members of our society requires enormous resources. Today, with the global economic crisis, where we see contributions scaled back, every contribution helps us continue on our path and mission.  WIZO is an amazing organization like to other, and its ability to continue to meet its commitments depends on people and organizations like you I urge you to continue to help WIZO promote social equality. I will do everything in my power to meet the challenges facing WIZO and to develop the organizations resources.“

The evening’s fundraising success is owed to the generosity and hardwork of WIZO’s employees and supporters. Funds will be used to support children, youth, women and communities in Israel.
