Supporting and guiding children at high risk and their families

A growing number of children at risk are joining Multi Purpose Day Care Centers.  There are also children of working mothers, whose children are in the Centers due to the working hours of their mothers.  These children also need special attention so that their development is not delayed nor they suffer from neglect.  Until recent years children were taken into the Multi Purpose Day Care Centers, in order to stop them being hurt in their family environments.  The DCC was only used for protection.  We have since found out that without working together with their parents, in a family environment, there is little chance for change.

The project aims to find, and evaluate children at risk, from three months to three years, in the WIZO Day Care Centers and in other frameworks in the locality, where the project operates. The project focuses upon reducing and preventing developmental problems – as early as possible.  All this will take into account what is happening in the wider area of the home, the DCC,  amongst  the staff of the DCC and professionals from the community who work within the community in these spheres.
